3. Practical Applications: Tackling the Toughest Jobs

Cup Grinding Wheels are not universal tools, but rather specialists for working with non-metallic brittle and hard materials such as concrete, stone, and refractories.

Construction Sites: Levelling concrete floors, removing epoxy floor coatings, trimming block/brick walls.

Stone Processing: Chamfering granite/marble edges, removing saw marks, profiling curved surfaces.

Refractories: Precision grinding of high-hardness kiln furniture like alumina bricks and magnesia-carbon bricks.

4. Selection and Specifications: Soft-on-Hard, Hard-on-Soft

The core principle for selecting an appropriate Cup Grinding Wheel lies in matching the workpiece material to the bond matrix through 'soft-on-hard' or 'hard-on-soft' pairing.

1) Selection by Bond Hardness

For machining extremely hard materials (e.g., high-density granite, corundum bricks), choose a soft bond matrix: accelerated bond wear ensures timely shedding of dulled diamonds, exposing fresh cutting edges.

For soft/medium-hard materials (e.g., ordinary cement, red bricks), select a hard backing: this prevents premature erosion of the diamond grains before they are fully utilised.

2) Selection by Grit Size

For coarse grinding, choose large diamond grit for high material removal rates and rapid stock removal.

For fine grinding/polishing, select fine-grained diamonds to reduce surface roughness.

3) Selection by size

Cup grinding wheels typically come in diameters of 100mm / 115mm / 125mm / 150mm / 180mm / 230mm, etc.

The bore diameter is universally 22.23mm, compatible with the vast majority of angle grinders.

5. Safety

Cup Grinding Wheel operates at extremely high rotational speeds. When in use, the angle grinder guard must be fitted, and safety goggles and a dust mask must be worn. When installing the Cup Grinding Wheel, ensure the rotation direction aligns with the arrow indicator and perform a no-load test run.

Summary

The essence of Cup Grinding Wheel lies in transforming industrial diamonds into highly efficient "cutting teeth", which are then metallurgically bonded onto a rotating bowl. The choice of process-sintering or brazing-directly determines whether you are embarking on a "prolonged campaign" or a "blitzkrieg".
